As the 2025 campaign approaches, Raviplast is preparing to supply biodegradable and compostable mulch. "Our key strengths," says sales manager Daniele Martinelli, "include the perfect filming, the extensive range of thicknesses and widths, as well as customized perforations to meet customer needs. The product is packaged securely with reliable delivery times, technical/commercial assistance, and the confidence that we have a superior product that will meet the demands of farms."
Raviplast has been manufacturing biodegradable, compostable mulching film for a number of years. "However, this year we are focusing our efforts on strengthening our brand presence on the market." Our product has undergone rigorous testing and has been deemed highly effective by industry professionals. Our production and logistics base is in Ravenna, Italy, which allows us to efficiently ship our product to customers in both the north and south of Italy."
Raviplast's primary customer base comprises large companies, retailers, and technicians who make multiple purchases for a number of different organisations. The Italian company has a comprehensive nationwide sales network.
Martinelli notes that, "Unlike traditional plastic sheeting, BioRavi mulch sheets can be spread and drilled with the same equipment, yet they deliver a higher yield per hectare thanks to their reduced thickness. The product has a minimal environmental impact thanks to its biodegradability and soil compostability. Once the crop cycle has concluded, the mulch sheet can be incorporated into the soil along with the crop residues, eliminating the need for removal or disposal. The biodegradable material is transformed into water, CO2 and organic matter by soil microorganisms."
"The cloth can be supplied in black or black-white, in the formats requested by customers," Martinelli concludes. "When questioned about the higher cost per kg compared to traditional mulching sheets, I respond that the number of hectares covered is a key factor. The sheet's enhanced performance and reduced thicknesses result in a significantly lighter weight per hectare, effectively balancing the costs. Additionally, the elimination of removal and disposal costs at the end of the cycle further enhances the cost-effectiveness of this solution."
