Lower prices for cherry tomatoes and specialties in October

Prices for loose tomatoes and vine tomatoes were just in line with October 2023 in the Netherlands last month, according to European figures. Only cherry and specialty tomato prices were lower. Consequently, those prices were extra high last autumn. In all cases, tomato prices in October 2024 in the Netherlands were between 30-40% higher than the five-year average.

In Spain, prices for loose tomatoes and cherry and specialty tomatoes were considerably lower than last October. The same goes for France. Only Italy stands out on the tomato dashboard with 53% higher prices for cherry and specialty tomatoes in October.

Across the board, there was an average kilogram price of €1.94 in the European Union. This is lower than the October 2023 price of €2.09.
