Introducing VioShield series storage containers for food, cannabis, and healthcare

Boulderlamp is set to unveil its patent-pending VioShield series storage containers at the 13th annual MJBIZCon, December 4-6, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The VioShield offers a non-UV LED light solution to pathogen control for applications in food, cannabis, and healthcare.

Made of durable, aluminum-clad printed circuit boards, VioShield series storage container lids use 405 nm violet light — a human-safe wavelength — to produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) in microbial cells. Similar to bleach in its effects, this ROS buildup inhibits bacteria, fungi, yeast, and mold without UV light's harmful side effects. The intensity and duration of 405 nm light exposure determine VioShield's pathogen-inhibiting power.

Freshness in – Mold out
Mold is a widespread issue in legal cannabis products across the U.S. A recent Wall Street Journal analysis of over two million test results from nine states found a disproportionate number of products containing harmful molds in cannabis. "Pot stored with VioShield light benefits from an antimicrobial environment, helping to reduce mold growth," says Fazle Quazi, Boulderlamp CEO and VioShield inventor. "Additionally, if mold is absent before exposure, 405 nm light helps prevent mold formation and growth." Pulsed light mode helps reduce energy usage, and solar power compatibility offers a sustainable option.

The Quality and Integrity of Stored Cannabis and Food are Preserved
405 nm light offers added benefits. UV exposure is known to degrade cannabis potency, while VioShield's 405 nm wavelength preserves the natural quality and integrity of cannabis and food. Research further indicates that 405 nm light exposure can improve the quality of stored strawberries by increasing the antioxidant activity of the enzymes within the fruit and increasing vitamin C levels in stored cabbage.

Enhances Effectiveness of Essential Oil for Pain Relive
CEO Fazle Quazi states, "This exciting technology offers a whole new way to store food and cannabis without mold or quality concerns. Its applications even extend into cosmetics and personal care." Quazi continues, "Preliminary research suggests essential oil's antioxidant properties could be enhanced by simultaneous 405 nm light exposure, potentially boosting skin benefits in the presence of reactive oxygen species."

Skin care
Portable, detachable, and versatile, VioShield lids serve alternative uses like acne treatment, wound care, and even teeth whitening.

VioShield series lids are available in various shapes — circular, rectangular, and oval — to fit a range of containers, from Mason jars and cooking pots to cannabis storage totes and even shoe cabinets. They can also be mounted under cabinets or placed over food trays for broad-spectrum antimicrobial protection. Each lid connects to an external LED driver, with optional and proprietary iOS and android app-based Wi-Fi or Bluetooth controls for personalized settings.
