Rijk Zwaan, an international Dutch-based fruit and vegetable breeding company, delivered a keynote on "Global Vegetable Production and Food Security" at the 21st National Horticultural Congress 2024 in Bangkok.
Invited by the 21st National Horticultural Congress 2024 Organizing Committee to be a keynote speaker, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Hong, Product Development Specialist from Rijk Zwaan, underlines Rijk Zwaan and international partners' collaboration on "Innovative Vegetable Crops Improvement for Food Security Under Global Climate Change."
Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Hong said at the Congress: "In an increasingly interconnected world, food security remains one of the greatest challenges of our time. As the global population grows and environmental pressures intensify, ensuring access to nutritious, affordable food for all has never been more critical. Vegetables, as a key part of a balanced diet, play a pivotal role in meeting the nutritional needs of people worldwide. At Rijk Zwaan, every year we invest 30% of our annual turnover in R&D. We believe that innovation in vegetable seed technology is essential to addressing the complex issues of global food security, sustainability, and resilience in food systems."

"Climate-Smart Horticulture" was the theme of the recent National Horticultural Congress in Bangkok
More than 250 attendees were present on the first day of the Congress, which was officially opened by Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University. The three-day Congress (November 13–15, 2024) is organized by the Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Kasetsart University, in collaboration with the Horticultural Science Society of Thailand under the theme "Climate-Smart Horticulture."
Rijk Zwaan was invited to be a keynote speaker at the Congress in Bangkok. With over 1,800 varieties of more than 30 different crops, Rijk Zwaan operates globally in 100 countries, including Thailand, to provide high-quality seeds to growers worldwide, whether for high-tech greenhouses, protected cultivation, or open-field farming. Founded in 1924 in Rotterdam by Mr. Rijk Zwaan, the international Dutch-based vegetable and fruit breeding company is celebrating its centenary in 2024, while Thailand and the Netherlands are celebrating the 420th anniversary of relations this same year.
