"Crop rotation machines increasingly developed for efficiency and safety"

MKB Westland has announced the three nominees for the MKB Westland Entrepreneur Award 2024. And among them, as one would expect, is a horticultural supplier. This year, Weterings Machinery is one of the lucky ones. The jury faces the challenging task of choosing the most inspiring and innovative.

Father and son Weterings: Igno and Nick Weterings of Weterings Machinery

Weterings Machinery, led by owners Rob van den Berg, Fabian Hertogh, and Nick Weterings, has been a household name in the machinery sector since 1940. Nick Weterings: "We design and develop custom-made solutions, focusing on durability, reliability, safety, and innovation. We believe in innovation."

Talking about innovation at this time of year, Nick quickly comes up with crop change machines. These are constantly being further developed in terms of efficiency and safety.

Crop rotation: contractor versus in-house
There is something to be said for both. Nick sees it this way: "When the contractor clears the crop, capacity is especially important. In no time the crop has to be out. Fast, faster, and fastest. It can all be done. By using contract workers, the grower is optimally relieved."

"And on the other hand, we also get growers who want to manage the crop rotation themselves. They may not want to be relieved as much, but they do want to be independent. And with the consolidation of cultivation companies, acreages are getting bigger, and it pays off sooner to buy your machinery. There is something for everyone."

Weterings Machinery's machines go all over the world. They operate in more than 80 countries. The darker the color, the more present Weterings Machinery is there.

Back to the MKB Westland Entrepreneur Award 2024. The winner will be announced on 28 November. All of Horticulture Netherlands is keeping its fingers crossed.
