Seasonal perishable commodities volume and price fluctuations

This report provides a trend analysis of the volume and prices of Seasonal Perishable commodities. Volume represents the current week, and prices represent open (spot) market sales by first handlers on products of generally good quality and condition unless otherwise stated and may include promotional allowances or other incentives. The charts provide a graphic representation of the volume and prices of the major commodities this week based on seasonal volume.

Asparagus
The movement of Peru imports through South Florida ports of entry is expected to remain about the same. Trading is moderate. Prices of jumbo are slightly higher, large are generally unchanged, others are slightly lower. 11pound cartons of bunched green jumbo are mostly 28.75-30.75, extra-large are mostly 24.85-26.75, large are mostly 21.75-24.75, standard are mostly 19.75-21.75. Supplies of large are fairly light. Quality is generally good. Movement from Mexico crossings through Arizona, California, and Texas is expected to remain about the same. Trading is fairly slow. Prices are higher due to light supplies. 11-pound cartons/crates of bunched standard are 22.75. Extra services are included. Prices represent few spot market sales.

Avocado
Movement from Mexico's crossings through Texas is expected to remain about the same. Trading of 32-40s is good, while others are moderate. The price of 40s are higher, 48-84s are lower, and others are generally unchanged. Cartons of 2-layers Hass 32-36s are mostly 70.25-72.25, 40s are mostly 64.25-67.25, 48s are mostly 52.25-54.25, 60s are mostly 29.25-30.25, 70s are mostly 20.25-22.25, and 84s are mostly 16.25-17.25; organic 48s are mostly 65.25-68.25, 60s are mostly 44.25-48.25, and 70s are mostly 36.25-38.25. Extra services are included.

Cucumber
Movement from Mexico crossings through Nogales, Arizona is expected to increase. Supplies of large are light. Trading early was active, and late was slow. Prices are lower. 1 1/9-bushel cartons medium are mostly 16.95, fair quality are mostly 10.95-12.95, ordinary quality are mostly 10.95; small are mostly 10.95-12.95; large are mostly 16.95. Carton 24s are 5.95-8.95, 36s are 7.95-10.95. Quality is generally good. Most present shipments are from prior bookings and/or previous commitments. Movement from Mexico's crossings through Texas is expected to remain about the same. Trading early was fairly active, and late was moderate. Prices are much lower. 1 1/9-bushel cartons medium are mostly 22.95-23.95, fair quality are mostly 16.95-17.95, ordinary quality are mostly 7.95-9.95, large are mostly 22.95-26.95. Quality and condition are variable. Movement from Mexico crossings through Otay Mesa, California is expected to remain about the same. Supplies of large are light. Trading early was active, late was moderate. Prices are lower. 1 1/9-bushel cartons medium are mostly 20.95-23.00, fair quality are mostly 18.00-20.00; large are mostly 23.00-24.00. Cartons 36s are 10.9513.00.
