Saudi Arabia aiming to enhance professional, practical greenhouse skills with new agreement

The National Research and Development Center for Sustainable Agriculture (Estidamah) has signed a strategic agreement with NEOM Food Company TOPIAN to enhance professional and practical skills in greenhouse management and operations, aiming to implement training programs in this field across the Kingdom.

This agreement was concluded following the Greenhouse Crop Management program, organized by the center over four weeks to develop the expertise of farmers and specialists, qualify national personnel, and transfer knowledge to enable them to adopt the best sustainable agricultural practices aligned with the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030.

The program, conducted in cooperation with TOPIAN and the Dutch Greenhouse Delta (DGD), included intensive training workshops, discussion sessions, practical applications, and field visits to several greenhouses. The program focused on 11 key areas about developing and enhancing the agricultural value chain, increasing greenhouse crop productivity, managing integrated pest control, plant physiology, agricultural data analysis, and vertical farming.

The program targeted various groups, including farmers, experts, agricultural sector specialists, investors, and agricultural companies, as well as students, trainees, and fresh graduates. Over 75 participants attended the sessions to enhance and develop their skills and expertise and to benefit from opportunities that empower and encourage them to adopt modern agricultural practices in greenhouse management, contributing to a more sustainable agricultural future.

The Greenhouse Crop Management program is a key initiative under Estidamah's efforts, in collaboration with its partners, to transfer knowledge, develop the national workforce, enhance sustainable agricultural systems, and localize modern agricultural technologies. The program represents a significant shift in greenhouse management and operations in the Kingdom.
