In Petropavlovsk, Kazakhstan, the first high-tech greenhouse complex, Green North LLP, has proven to be a success in the year-round cultivation of fresh vegetables.
Equipped with cutting-edge technology and climate control systems, the 3.7-hectare vegetable greenhouse is now operating at its designed capacity. To maintain perfect growing conditions for plants, the complex employs automated misting, lighting, and heating systems. For instance, should the humidity levels drop within the greenhouse, a mist is automatically generated. Conversely, excessive sunlight triggers the closure of screens to provide shade.
During the winter months, cucumbers bask under the glow of 10,742 lamps, while heating is supplied through steam from the city's thermal power plant, making the process both environmentally friendly and cost-effective.
According to Gaukhar Nurmuhametov, the governor of the North Kazakhstan region, the facility plans to expand its cultivation to not only cucumbers but also tomatoes, lettuce, and herbs, aiming for an annual production volume of 3,000 tons.
