Spanish zucchini exports have stagnated in the last three campaigns, after a period of almost constant growth. A report by Hortoinfo based on Estacom data highlights this change in trend. Exports peaked at 451.92 million kilos in the 2020/2021 season. The next season they fell to 385.6 million kilos and remained at a similar level in the 2023/2024 season.
France and Germany were the main buyers of Spanish zucchini with more than 100 million kilos each. They were followed by the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Portugal. The UK paid the highest average price for Spanish zucchini (1.31 euros per kilo), followed by the Netherlands with 1.26 euros per kilo.
France was the main destination purchasing 111.35 million kilos of Spanish zucchini, i.e. 28.87% of the total, at an average price of 1.17 euros per kilo. Germany followed with 106.74 million kilos, 27.68% of the total, and an average price of 1.18 euros per kilo. The Netherlands acquired 38.8 million kilos, 10.06% of the total, at an average price of 1.26 euros per kilo. The UK bought 35.99 million kilos at an average price of 1.31 euros per kilo. Portugal was the fifth biggest destination in the 2023/2024 season with 15.96 million kilos and an average price of 0.7 euros per kilo.
