Jumbo's first Flemish branch opened its doors on 6 November 2019. Meanwhile, the Dutch supermarket chain has 36 stores here, including a Jumbo City urban store in Antwerp and, since the beginning of September, a large Jumbo Foodmarkt in Ghent. Before the end of the year, Jumbo will open another store in Denderleeuw.

UK: Asda to cut 475 jobs and reduce hybrid working
Asda has confirmed 475 roles at their head offices in Leeds and Leicestershire will be cut and hybrid working reduced as part of a business restructure. The retailer said the move, which would affect less than 10% of its head office staff, would enable it to "simplify structures" amid a challenging market. In a note to employees, the company's chairman Lord Rose said office attendance would also become compulsory for at least three days per week from January.

"You can get beautiful small fruits for $2 to $3 apiece and larger fruits for $4 to $5. People are sceptical because they're early but they're absolutely beautiful". Kensington prides are cheapest at about $2 each, followed by calypsos ($2.50) and R2E2s ($4).

Sklavenitis Cyprus has finalised its acquisition of Papantoniou Supermarkets, following approval from the Commission for the Protection of Competition. The deal solidifies Sklavenitis' position as a major supermarket chain on the island, marking a new chapter for both companies. With the integration complete, Sklavenitis Cyprus will now operate a network of 27 stores, employing 2,350 people. US: Grocery Outlet's sales remain strong amid challenges
Grocery Outlet Holding Corp.'s net sales increased 10.4% to $1.11bln during the third quarter ended September 28, due to new store sales and a 1.2% increase in comparable-store sales, which represents 7.6% comp growth on a two-year basis. Comp transaction growth of 2% was partly offset by a 0.7% decline in average basket. Comps during the summer were challenging but accelerated in September to 3.8%.
