UAE: Off-grid underground greenhouse project nears completion

Aya Kenz has announced the construction of the first-ever off-grid underground greenhouse in the UAE and broader GCC. Scheduled for completion on November 1, 2024, this greenhouse will enable year-round organic food production using solar and geothermal energy, offering a solution to the region's food security challenges.

Malte Binting, CEO and Co-Founder of Aya Kenz said: "This project sets the foundation for transforming agriculture in the UAE and GCC, offering a new vision for sustainable farming in the region. Utilizing renewable energy and water recycling systems, we conserve up to 90% of water compared to traditional farming. Our modular, scalable approach is financially viable, providing fresh organic food locally while supporting developers, investors, and communities in building a sustainable future for agriculture."
