Almost 30 years ago already, people from EZG Netherlands saw an opportunity for a new product for the benefit of gutter cultivation at a horticultural fair. Two days later, the plastic product specialists were back at the fair with a prototype. "Since then, it has been impossible to imagine gutter cultivation without this product," shares director/owner Jurriaan van den Bos.
Since the start of EZG Netherlands in 1995, the company has been closely associated with horticulture, and it is impossible to imagine the horticultural world without it. "For many years, we have provided plastic end trays and caps for various suppliers for gutter cultivation," he says.
In addition, the Bergschenhoek-based company is also active in many other industries, for displays, housings, fan runners, finishing caps, and various products. Nevertheless, the horticultural industry is not letting go of the company. "And neither are we them," stresses Jurriaan. "Especially now that more and more innovation is needed in the transition to produce everything as responsibly as possible. That's what we like to keep ourselves busy with and go at it well!"
Indeed, over time you will come across EZG Netherlands' products in different areas in the greenhouse: at the gutter, in aeration systems, as well as automated transport systems and robots.
Progress through relocation
Since 2019, the company has moved within Bergschenhoek and moved into new premises. "This also immediately gave us more opportunities again for, for example, a larger-sized machine for 2.4 x 1.9-meter products, and thus new larger products such as aeration gradients, ebb, and flow bottoms for CC carts and larger."
When the time comes, the director/owner promises to be able to tell more about that. "So we are active in numerous areas. Even if a customer only has half an idea, together we turn it into a whole one, make the moulds ourselves, vacuum form, and post-process it into a cool finished product."
Recycling
This then often results in a better or cheaper product, which is also sustainable and therefore better for the world, he stresses. What about the plastic soup everywhere? Jurriaan and EZG Netherlands know the social discussion about it. "Plastic has acquired a somewhat 'dirty' name as a result, but as soon as a product reaches the end of its life, and it is offered for recycling again, we turn it into new products. We've been doing that for almost 30 years by the way!"
