In the Mykolaiv region, agrarians are actively developing greenhouse farming to provide consumers with fresh vegetables all year round, as reported by Olena Piskun, the Director of the Agro-Industrial Department, Mykolaiv RSA.
"In the Mykolaiv region, the restoration and development of greenhouse farming, which suffered destructions since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, continues. Currently, the area of greenhouses is 40 hectares, which is 8 hectares more than in 2023. We have not yet reached the pre-war level when their area was 51 hectares, but the process is ongoing," said Piskun.
According to her, at the state level, there is grant support for the creation of new greenhouses. Specifically, for producers in the Mykolaiv region, in 2024, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy approved two projects for the construction of modular greenhouses with an area of 1.7 and 1.64 hectares, respectively, with a total amount of 14 million UAH.
One of the largest agribusinesses in the region, which is actively expanding its greenhouse farming, is the PAEK company. At the beginning of 2024, a complex of 10 greenhouses was put into operation there, and in August – their number increased by another seven units. They grow vegetables and seedlings for vegetable and melon crops.
