US (IL): Jerseyville approves zoning regulations to add agricultural research centers

City Council has approved an amendment to zoning regulations to add agricultural research centers as an allowable special use in manufacturing districts.

City Attorney William Strang said the change was necessary because Bayer Inc. has a greenhouse facility it wants to expand. Because the facility is within 1½ miles of Jerseyville city limits, the city has control of zoning.

The company will still have to go through the zoning process for the change and have it approved by the council.

In other business, the council approved providing $7,000 for the annual Downtown Country Christmas Festival and Bright Nights celebration.
