Sweden: First plants in new Agtira greenhouse

Today marks a significant step for Agtira as they plant 7,000 cucumber plants in their new greenhouse at ICA Maxi Haninge, Sweden. This greenhouse, located conveniently in the parking lot of the hypermarket, aims to provide residents with fresh, locally grown cucumbers year-round.

Agtira's staff has carefully prepared the greenhouse to ensure optimal conditions for the young plants. If all goes as planned, the first harvest will be ready in 19 days, allowing Agtira to offer fresh cucumbers directly to the Haninge community.

This new greenhouse is part of Agtira's broader strategy to grow produce as close as possible to retail locations, minimizing transportation time and offering a fresher product compared to imported alternatives. Traditional imports often take weeks and travel thousands of kilometers before reaching consumers, but Agtira's cucumbers will travel just a few minutes from farm to store.

The Haninge greenhouse is one of several similar projects in Agtira's portfolio, each designed to make fresh produce more accessible and sustainable. By leveraging their proximity to consumers and the latest greenhouse technology, Agtira hopes to continue expanding this model across Sweden, making a positive impact on local food production.
