The ban includes tomatoes, peppers, and fresh melons

Russia imposes temporary import restrictions on fresh produce from Kazakhstan

Starting October 17, 2024, Rosselkhoznadzor has imposed temporary restrictions on the import of tomatoes, peppers, and fresh melons from Kazakhstan.

The move comes after repeated findings of quarantine pests in produce shipped from Kazakhstan, which poses a risk to Russia's plant health.

Since early 2024, 215 cases of pest contamination have been reported, a fourfold increase compared to 2023. Despite multiple warnings, Kazakhstan has not taken adequate steps to address the issue, leading Rosselkhoznadzor to enforce the ban.

The restrictions will remain in place until the situation is resolved.
