Floating covers for silos and basins are offered in abundance. Ron Duijvesteijn of A1 Group sees few differences in quality. Except for one thing. And that is something that catches his eye. Most covers are black. All but one ... the DelafloaT from De Lange Plastics. Ron does see the advantage of this. "White absorbs less heat. And that benefits water quality. That's one of the reasons for A1 to choose De Lange Plastics' DelafloaT." Meanwhile, they have already fitted hundreds of them.
Ron Duijvesteijn at Montana Lisianthus in Poeldijk. There, A1 has covered 7 basins with DelafloaT.
The cover floats on the water. The material consists of two layers with small air-filled spaces in between, which ensure high buoyancy. And because of the shape of those air-filled spaces, the DelafloaT soaks up the water, so to speak. Gravel bags hanging over the edge further hold the DelafloaT in place.
A1 also cleans silos in the crop change season. Ron: "This system is quick and easy to clean. It is easy to store, so it is easy to spray clean."
DelafloaT
The DelafloaT shields the water from sunlight (UV radiation), preventing algae growth, while its white top reduces evaporation. DelafloaT is mounted on both rainwater basins and water silos and has a lifespan of more than 10 years.
