VBT figures week 42

Price of vine tomato continues to rise, cucumber drops further

The price for vine tomatoes continued to rise last week at the VBT auctions. This puts the average kilogram price above 2 euros: 2.195 euros was paid on average over the whole of week 42.

Middle prices for loose tomatoes did drop, as did prices for cucumber and aubergine.

The middle price for head lettuce was stable. For the various lettuce varieties, the switch from outdoor cultivation to greenhouse is also visible in the price overview. For instance, the Lollo Bionda now comes from the greenhouse and outdoors, with a slightly higher price for the greenhouse product: 0.653 euros per unit to 52.3 euro cents per unit for the outdoor product.

The middle price for strawberries has been dropping back a little recently. Supply has recovered after a shortage of products was available for a while.
