Following the recent successful completion of Phase 4C, VB is expanding the greenhouse facilities for Little Leaf Farms in McAdoo, Pennsylvania. With the start of Phase 4D, a new expansion covering a total of 4 hectares, VB continues its partnership with Little Leaf Farms. Since the collaboration began in 2016, this marks the seventh consecutive greenhouse construction project carried out by VB's Horti division for Little Leaf Farms. Both companies are committed to continuously applying new insights for improvement and achieving them in a sustainable way.
Project development: Phase 4D
The next phase includes a modern greenhouse structure with an impressive height of 7.5 meters, as well as an irrigation and seeding area. A key component of the expansion is the connection to the existing packing area, which was already prepared for future expansions during Phase 4C. This will allow for the seamless integration of logistics processes with the new facilities of Phase 4D.
Construction progress
At this stage, the initial steps of construction are well underway. Little Leaf Farms has contracted a local company to level the land, and work has begun on installing the precast foundations. The first containers with materials have already arrived on-site.
New technology and sustainable solutions
As with previous expansions, VB is implementing further innovations in greenhouse construction and cultivation techniques in Phase 4D. While this phase builds on the design of Phase 4C, several new improvements have been made to further enhance production efficiency and sustainability. Little Leaf Farms continues its focus on growing leafy greens locally and sustainably, and this expansion is another step toward that goal.
