As a child, Weiss was captivated by growing plants. His early love for botany led him to study the subject at Rutgers University, with dreams of becoming a farmer. However, family expectations guided him toward medical school.
His medical career took a life-changing turn when his father was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. Weiss discovered the power of whole plant foods during his father's illness, seeing firsthand how a plant-based diet helped extend his father's life far beyond doctors' predictions. This experience sparked his dedication to combining medicine with the healing power of food.
Ethos Farm to Health is more than just a farm. It's a nonprofit that focuses on growing organic food, fostering community, and supporting research into sustainable food systems. What started as a small community-supported agriculture (CSA) initiative has expanded into a farmer's market open to the public.
Visitors can buy organic produce grown on the farm, where the philosophy of "food is medicine" is at the core. Additionally, the farm hosts educational events like the annual Farm Day to raise awareness about the connection between food, health, and the environment.
