FEDEMCO, the Spanish Federation of wooden packaging and its components, was present once again at the agri-food fair Fruit Attraction. On this occasion, the protagonist of its participation has been ECOWOOX, the only European certification mark on the market that certifies 100% recyclability of wooden packaging.
The certification began to be implemented in 2023 and in just one year it has obtained a market share of 80% in wooden fruit and vegetable packaging in Spain and Portugal.
Emilio J. Pérez, Director of FEDEMCO said that the company is proud of the "reception that ECOWOOX is having, both in Spain and internationally."
On the first day of the fair, the round table organized by Packnet and with the participation of FEDEMCO addressed the strategies and objectives for moving towards the circularity of fruit and vegetable packaging. On the second day of the event, the presentation took place in the Fruit Next forum and dealt with the Life Cycle Analysis of wooden packaging. An affirmation supported by the data of the study carried out by the research team of the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
FEDEMCO currently holds the presidency of Grow International, an organization created in 1991 as a result of international cooperation between the federations of France, Spain, Germany, and Italy. The recent participation of FEDEMCO, through Grow International, in the DOGK congress in Germany with an exhibition space and a presentation, is proof of the commitment of the Spanish federation to the promotion of wooden packaging at an international level.
