In the Abai region of Kazakhstan, the Topar greenhouses are advancing their modern production of fresh vegetables and greens by utilizing cutting-edge agronomic methods.
Established in 1968, this enterprise has become one of the largest greenhouse operations in the country. The Topar greenhouses offer a diverse range of about 16 product categories, including cucumbers, tomatoes, and eggplants. This year, they plan to increase citrus production from 200 to 1,000 tons and begin cultivating lemon seedlings independently in the future.
The greenhouses employ both hydroponic and soil-based methods, maintaining optimal growing conditions through automated irrigation and climate control systems. Currently, the facility produces over 6,000 tons of produce annually, using Dutch technology, with agronomists having received training in the Netherlands. Soon, the introduction of agronomy robots is planned to analyze plant health, which will enhance operational efficiency.
Currently, around 300 employees work at the Topar greenhouses, with numbers continuing to grow due to modernization efforts and collaboration with a local college that trains specialists in the agricultural field. A key aspect of the enterprise's ecosystem includes bioagents, such as bumblebees and entomophages, which reduce the need for chemical pesticides.
The Topar greenhouses actively export their products to Russia and Belarus and are negotiating supply agreements with the UAE and Qatar.
