“Irrigation and gutters from here to the CGC”

Laid out flat on the floor, the drip irrigation lines and gutters from a single greenhouse project that Growtec is currently installing, combining this year and next year's project, stretch 720 kilometers — the distance from their Leamington office to Niagara Falls and BACK! With the Canadian Greenhouse Conference starting tomorrow, that's a fact worth mentioning.

Newbuilds picking up again
It was only one year ago that we were at the warehouse for Growtec in Leamington and it was filled with partygoers for their grand opening. Looking into the hall now, it's filled with machines for producing drip irrigation & forming wire brackets, production day and night. "We see newbuilds in the region picking up again," says Brian Zimmermann. "Over the last year, we've seen soft fruit production expanding rapidly, and now we're seeing many vegetable projects beginning again as well."

Expanding company
The Leamington office is fully staffed, but the company is also expanding. Recent hires have strengthened our local presence in Vancouver, and we've opened a new office in Grimsby. Additionally, we're expanding in Kingsville to meet the growing market demand and local production needs for suppliers. "In Kingsville, we will produce, plant pegs, and dripper assemblies, as well as provide dripper line extrusion services. Our goal is to handle as much work locally as we can to minimize supply chain uncertainties and maintain stable production for our customers."

High-pressure fogging systems
This week, the Growtec team is present at the Canadian Greenhouse Conference in Niagara Falls. "We'll also showcase the MJ-Tech and Robur automation solutions," says Freddy, "and of course, the Growtec products." Even though this summer hasn't been as hot as previous years, growers continue to see the benefits of their high-pressure fogging systems, Freddy adds when asked about the market demand for MJ-Tech products. "It always sounded like a good idea to lower the temperature and increase humidity when the climate is hot and dry, especially given climate change. But in the end, growers want to know the actual payback of their investment. That's what we're seeing now with multiple set-ups active in this region. The experiences have resulted in it becoming a standard part of many projects."
