US (WY): School district hopes to start greenhouse construction on October 4

Sheridan County School District in Ranchester, Wyoming, US, 3 is closer to having a greenhouse that will be utilized by students once completed. In a Sept. 30 special board meeting, the board accepted a quote from Hoskinson Construction to construct a concrete pad and provide utilities to the greenhouse site for $47,960, as well as a quote from Greenhouse Megastore to construct the greenhouse they purchased in the amount of $49,999.

The district will be utilizing additional Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds they received after filling out a survey at the end of June asking if districts would be able to use some extra funds. The district received an additional $150,000.

"On top of that, the Wyoming Department of Education has had some funds returned
from districts over the past week, so these funds have been allocated to our district, a couple of different allocations over the past week," SCSD3 Superintendent Chase Christensen said.

The district received an additional $125,000. ESSER grants are mainly tied to the response to COVID-19 and enhancing outdoor classroom space.
