Jamaican government says assistance on the way for growers following Hurricane Beryl

Beginning next week, the Government is to provide greenhouse farmers with critical supplies and materials to help them rebuild following the passage of Hurricane Beryl on July 3.

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Mining, Floyd Green, announced while providing an update on the ongoing Hurricane Beryl Recovery Programme during the sitting of the House of Representatives on September 24.

"Recognising the importance of protected agriculture, we have already procured $27 million worth of material, including plastic, antiviral netting and shade cloth," he said.

Green added that distribution is to involve farmers in the hardest-hit parishes.
