and announces Chief Agricultural Officer

Kinghaven Farms launches Haven Greens

Kinghaven Farms is expanding in the agricultural field with the launch of Haven Greens, a new controlled environment agriculture (CEA) brand focused on year-round, greenhouse-grown fresh, pesticide-free leafy greens.

"Alongside recent ventures into beekeeping and honey production, Kinghaven Farms is furthering its commitment to environmentally conscious farming practices with Haven Greens", the team shares.

And there's more going on within the company. Eric Highfield will join the executive team as Chief Agricultural Officer, bringing with him his knowledge in controlled-environment agriculture and automation. With experience at Green Automation and as the founder of High Yield Horticulture, Highfield's approach to growing systems will be pivotal as Haven Greens prepares to launch its greenhouse facility.

The Kinghaven facility, which is nearing completion, will cover an area of 2.3 hectares. The greenhouse facility is to supply Toronto and its surroundings with locally grown lettuce. The greenhouse is to be completed in 10 weeks, and distribution will start in early 2025.

Haven Greens plans on integrating advanced greenhouse technology with a focus on producing sweet and crunchy leafy green. Phase One will cover two hectares and feature a fully automated, hands-free system for growing baby leaf lettuce delivered by Green Automation and constructed by Havecon Horticultural Projects. A mobile gutter system maximizes space, eliminating manual transplanting and improving efficiency.

The first production phase will focus on three lettuce blends: baby green leaf, baby red and green leaf mix, and baby spring mix, with produce estimated to hit the market in February 2025.
