Devastating fire on 19 September

Major fire destroys nursery in Germany

In the early hours of 19 September, a devastating fire broke out in Münsterland, Germany, largely destroying a nursery. The local fire brigades responded immediately and were able to prevent the fire from spreading further thanks to their rapid deployment. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

The relevant investigating authorities, including the police and fire brigade, began investigating the cause immediately after the fire.

Around 60 people with mental or psychological disabilities were employed at the nursery in question. They will be temporarily housed in other workshops until the nursery has been rebuilt, and they can return to their usual work. Due to the ongoing forensic investigation, the horticultural insurance risk consultants were initially not permitted to enter the premises. A detailed assessment of the damage could therefore only be made at a later date. After an initial assessment, the horticultural insurance company assumes that the property damage is in the millions.

In close co-operation with the relevant authorities and representatives of the company, the horticultural insurance team will immediately take the necessary measures to rebuild the nursery as quickly as possible.
