Cartomat presents innovative hemp paper at Fachpack 2024:

"Own hemp material from the surrounding area of 20 km"

The international packaging trade fair Fachpack opened its doors on Tuesday. This year's exhibitors include the Willich-based family business Cartomat. In particular, the new, innovative product 'carto hemp paper' will be presented, reports Sales Manager Cornelia Grips on enquiry. With this environmentally friendly solution, Cartomat aims to play an active role in shaping the future of the packaging industry. Visitors will be able to see the unique properties and versatility of hemp paper for themselves and gain an insight into the company's latest developments.

Tear-resistant, wet-proof and regional
Thanks to the exceptionally long hemp fibres, the hemp paper is tear-resistant and moisture-proof. The raw material is grown regionally and processed into paper, a very CO₂-friendly cycle. "We have already stored the first harvest of hemp fibres and will now process this hemp straw for the paper mill using machinery specially developed for this purpose. This enables us to bring our hemp material from the surrounding area of 20 km to the nearby paper mill, which in turn is very low-transport for the sake of the environment," explains Grips.

"However, we are also expecting many visitors from other industries besides agriculture. After all, hemp paper is suitable for a wide range of applications and products," she adds.

The Grips family is at the helm of the company. In the picture: Company founder Hans Grips with his wife and daughters.
