Strawberry production expansion planned in Stepnogorsk, Kazakhstan

In Stepnogorsk, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov visited LLP "Greenhouse Technologies of Kazakhstan" and reviewed the production capacities of one of the largest greenhouses in the country. The investment project was launched in 2010 with the support of KazAgroFinance and is part of the regional Industrialization Map of the Akmola region, reports primeminister.kz.

Currently, the greenhouse complex covers an area of 4.8 hectares, with a production capacity of 2,400 tons of vegetables per year. The year-round production meets the capital's needs for fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, and greens. Products are also sold in other regions of the country. In April of this year, the second phase of the project was launched, focusing on growing new vegetable crops, particularly eggplants.

The General Director of LLP "Greenhouse Technologies of Kazakhstan," Alexander Gribalev, mentioned that in the near future, they plan to build a department for growing up to 50 tons of strawberries per year. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the enterprise's work in creating a food belt around the capital and instructed relevant ministries to provide the necessary support to domestic producers to unlock their export potential.

Olzhas Bektenov was also informed about plans to reconstruct the city's sports stadium. The facility is in disrepair: the running track, artificial turf, and field heating system will be updated. One stand, the gym, shooting range, and locker rooms will be repaired. A new football field will also be built. Demolition of the old structure will begin in October 2024, with construction starting in the second quarter of 2025 and completion expected by summer 2026. The technical inspection, project development, and reconstruction will be handled by the company "Altynalmas" as part of a social business partnership.
