Uzbekistan's Bukin district plans to build $36 million 'smart' greenhouses

The Uzbeki Agency for Strategic Reforms has released a set of proposals aimed at boosting the economic development of the Bukin district in the Tashkent region, Uzbekistan. The package of measures was prepared by local and regional authorities in collaboration with businesses.

One of the key projects includes the construction of "smart" greenhouses covering 220 hectares in the Samarkand community for a new variety of tomatoes. Investors from South Korea are planning to invest up to $36 million in the project. The tomatoes grown in these greenhouses will also be processed on-site.

Additionally, there are plans to establish a facility in the district for shock-freezing fruits and vegetables to support their export.
