Most Aussies struggle to define a vegetable

A recent survey of over 1,000 Australians found that fewer than 25% could correctly define a vegetable, highlighting widespread confusion. Common misconceptions included beliefs that vegetables don't contain seeds or that they only grow underground. This confusion is concerning, as only 5% of Australians meet the recommended daily intake of vegetables (six cups for men, five for women). The remaining 95% often substitute vegetables with processed, high-sugar, and salty foods, leading to deficiencies in fiber and increased health risks. This dietary challenge underscores the need for better nutritional education and healthier eating habits in Australia.
