Sri Lanka university sees fruitful strawberry and lettuce trials

In the initial phase, various plants including lettuce and strawberries were cultivated and harvested, showcasing significant achievements. This automated model requires minimal maintenance and observation, promising convenience for users. UCIARS aims to enhance its efficiency in the future continually, the University said.

The development of this system has provided invaluable hands-on experience to undergraduate students at UCIARS, particularly in greenhouse cultivation. Led by A J M C M Siriwardana, B S Bandusekara, W C M S Madushanka, and students from the 13th intake group, this project represents a collaborative effort towards innovation and practical learning, the University added.
