Sweden: First tomatoes harvested at Frövi greenhouse

The first tomatoes are harvested in Frövi, which marks a significant milestone and proof of concept for the greenhouse.

At the beginning of August, FoodVentures harvested the first batch of locally produced tomatoes distributed to ICA Gruppen stores across Sweden. This milestone is a significant proof of concept and a reminder that industrial-scale circularity is doable and 100% ready to deliver impact today.

Vinga Corporate Finance has structured EUR 70 million of financing to realize the project.

To celebrate this first harvest, an opening ceremony on September 6 will be held at the facility in Frövi, where Sweden's Minister of Finance, Elisabeth Svantesson, will participate together with the Governor of Örebro County, Lena Rådström Baastad, ICA Sweden's CEO Eric Lundberg, and Billerud's CEO, Ivar Vattne.
