The first public MCS charger for heavy vehicles in Southern Europe is located in Disfrimur's facilities

"MCS technology makes it possible to complete the electrification of heavy goods transport"

Following its strategy of making things ready for the electrification of heavy transport, Iberdrola | bp pulse has chosen Disfrimur's facilities to host the first public MCS charger for heavy vehicles in southern Europe, given its commitment to the electrification of its fleet and their alliance since 2021. "This collaboration is giving Disfrimur access to the latest technology in charging stations, an essential step to continue making progress in its sustainability goals," said the company from Murcia.

The new MCS (Megawatt Charging System) charging point, powered by 100% renewable energy with a guarantee of origin (GoO) certificate, which can reach 1,200 kW, represents a key innovation in the sector. "This charger has the capacity to recharge an electric truck during the driver's mandatory break, in approximately half an hour, thereby optimizing operating times and minimizing interruptions in the shipping process.

"The new MCS technology is making it possible to complete the electrification of heavy goods transport, extending its reach over long distances and matching the performance of traditional technologies. MCS chargers also allow an efficient rotation of rolling stock for other more local uses."

The implementation of this first high-power public MCS charger not only demonstrates the viability of this technology, but also lays the groundwork for further expansion of electric trucks in the future, thanks to their versatile, efficient use and lower impact on operations.

"As for Disfrimur, the company is firmly committed to the electrification of its fleet. In the mid-and long term, it plans to continue converting its vehicle fleet to more sustainable options, such as electric trucks, thus reaffirming its commitment to this technology and to cleaner and more efficient transport."

Disfrimur is a family-owned company with a solid track record in the freight transport sector, especially in the food sector. Founded with the aim of offering a high-quality service, the company has expanded across all of Spain.

Disfrimur's large, modern fleet, which currently uses five different types of energy for the mobility of its vehicles, allows it to offer a differentiated service, adapted to the needs of its customers. Under its motto of "Invisible Transport", the company constantly strives to measure, reduce and offset its carbon footprint, with the aim of achieving emission neutrality and contributing to making transport more sustainable.

"The development of a fast and high-powered charging infrastructure along the Mediterranean corridor will facilitate the use of electric power for the benefit of more efficient and sustainable transport."

"However, for this transition to be successful, it is essential that all links of the chain are involved: administration, customers, manufacturers, energy operators and shippers. Only through a joint effort will it be possible to transform road freight transport into a greener and more competitive option.

"Also, the high penetration of renewable energy providers in our country, mainly wind and solar, will provide a competitive advantage to our transport companies. The renewable electricity powering their trucks will make them immune to the effects of existing tensions in hydrocarbon exporting countries, which entails greater economic certainty in the energy supply."
