Prices in the fruit and vegetable category have been extremely volatile since the beginning of the year. "We currently source the majority of our range from the Netherlands and Belgium. Cucumber prices, for example, have risen to around six euros per kilo in the past week, which is roughly double," explains Hasan Uslu, Managing Director of C und S Groß- und Einzelhandels Ltd. However, due to the sharp price increases, we are seeing strong fluctuations in demand here - as with many other items. In terms of marketing, the season so far has been quite disappointing," Uslu summarises.
