Switzerland:

Rathgeb Bio and Kellermann build organic greenhouse on four hectares

Rathgeb Bio is building a greenhouse at the site of its partner company Kellermann Gemüsekulturen in Ellikon an der Thur, where fresh vegetables will be produced in 2025 using a sustainable energy supply. As is well known, family businesses Rathgeb Bio and Kellermann Gemüsekulturen have been working closely together since April 2023.

As the next major joint development step, the two companies are investing in a new greenhouse facility covering around four hectares at the Ellikon an der Thur site for the organic production of tomatoes and cucumbers in soil culture. Thanks to an existing design plan, the project can be realised relatively quickly. Commissioning is planned for early 2025.

Sustainable and attractive jobs
"This progressive investment will enable Rathgeb Bio to further expand its range of organic vegetables from greenhouses - which are heated with renewable energy. The new greenhouse contributes to value creation in the region through the production of healthy food. It also creates sustainable and attractive jobs," the two companies report in a statement.
