US (MA): Strawberry grower to establish elevated tray field

The Dutch company GEGE Machinebouw is collaborating with Haygrove to establish a new tray field for Nourse Farms in the USA. What's special about this project is that it involves an elevated tray field. GEGE Machinebouw has developed this system.

The system aims to reduce labor costs, increase production capacity, and improve working conditions. The elevated trays allow for more efficient care and harvesting of plants, which, results in healthier plants and higher yields, according to the developers.

In collaboration with Haygrove, who provide advanced vent tunnels for optimal ventilation and climate control, the Dutch are creating an ideal growing environment. "Our mission is to make the highest quality strawberry plants available," says Bart van Schaijk of GEGE Machinebouw. "Thanks to these innovative systems, we can significantly increase the efficiency and sustainability of the cultivation processes."

The tray field project in Massachusetts is just the beginning, according to Bart. "The successful implementation of GEGE's technology promises further improvements and expansions in American strawberry cultivation. Growers throughout the region are looking forward to the benefits that this Dutch innovation will bring."
