"We're dedicated to meeting diverse growers' needs with our custom-made systems"

"GreenWalk™ enhances plant growth and supports high-density cultivation by providing quick and easy access to multiple levels within the grow space. This enables fast response times to plant vitality issues and simplifies harvesting, ensuring optimal plant care throughout the growth cycle," explains Véronique Di Lullo, VP of Marketing at Montel Inc., a supplier of vertical racking systems that recently celebrated its 100th anniversary.

The GreenWalk is designed to enhance plant growth and support high-density cultivation by providing quick and easy access to multiple levels within the grow space. "Montel is dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of all growers with custom-made indoor vertical farming systems. Our commitment to quality and innovation continually pushes the boundaries of what is possible in vertical farming," Véronique asserts.

Removing traditional barriers
Compatible with various vertical farming systems, including GreenRak, Grow&Roll, and static GrowRak systems, Greenwalk can be adopted in any existing facility. The system's fixtures are built into each room, and the platform is designed to remain within the same room, thus minimizing the risk of cross-contamination. "By reducing the movement of equipment between different grow spaces, GreenWalk helps prevent cross-contamination," Véronique highlights.

Unlike traditional scissor lifts, which require extensive training, adherence to safety regulations, and maneuvering through critical paths, GreenWalk offers significant advantages. "GreenWalk serves as a full-length catwalk for second tiers and higher, accommodating multiple users within the same aisle," Véronique explains. "It offers safe and easy access in narrow aisles, freeing up space for better plant accessibility on both sides."

Plug-and-play solution
"The system is designed for intuitive and user-friendly operation, with assembly instructions provided to ensure ease of use," Véronique notes. The tool-free installation allows users to reconfigure the setup at any time, simplifying the reconfiguration of vertical farming operations by providing easy access to upper-tier equipment such as light fixtures, trays, irrigation systems, and sensors.

Integrating GreenWalk into an existing vertical farming system is both quick and cost-effective. "An integration involves installing brackets onto the existing racking system to mount the catwalk. This process is quick, cost-effective, and can be completed with minimal disruption to the existing setup. On top of that, it optimizes the use of space and resources, thereby enhancing the efficiency of a vertical farm," says Véronique.

The fully integrated retractable in-rack cantilever scaffold is made from lightweight high-grade aluminum. It mounts directly to the GREENRAK® mobile vertical farming grow rack system with 'snap-and-hook' hardware. The design allows the user to hook the platform on the mobile unit and then flip and snap it to the adjacent mobile unit. No modifications to the existing system are required.

GreenWalk™ requires only two feet of aisle space, allowing for quick and easy access. Its retractable design means no additional dedicated storage area is needed, and it does not require a fully open aisle, unlike other catwalks or scissor lifts which can disrupt operations. Safety bars secure the mobile units to avoid any overturn possibilities and serve as guards at the end of the platform. "GreenWalk's sturdy lightweight construction is capable of withstanding multiple users," Véronique notes.
