Improved tomato supply thanks to lit cultivation

The lit crops are in full swing, and the first traditional crops are growing. The illuminated area this winter is significantly larger than last year, a fact also noted by ING. Approximately half of what was illuminated before the energy crisis has returned after a year of only sporadic illumination. The illuminated area will thus amount to about 400 hectares.

The prices for both loose tomatoes and vine tomatoes are above average for this time of year. The increase in illuminated crops will lead to a better distribution in sales. However, a higher price is necessary in the coming period to compensate for the high energy costs. The rainy, gloomy weather also necessitates additional illumination.
