Hydroponic solution for gothic tunnels introduced

Being specialized in developing cultivation and drainage gutters for a diverse range of greenhouses, the team with Hydroponic Systems now launches a system that enables the integration of hydroponic gutters under gothic tunnels. "We want farmers to be able to access a complete turnkey solution to start farming: easy, fast and adaptable to all budgets. In addition, we want to help them enhance their production efficiency and improve the quality of their yields with this solution", Antonio GarcĂa from Hydroponic Systems says.

The newly launched system can be modified to cater the specific needs of various crops. "We can realize elevated gutters on posts, hanging gutters from the structure, and soil gutters, depending on the crop demand and the growers' preferences", Antonio shows.

It's also possible to include horizontal moving gutters, thanks to a ceiling-hung system with motorized horizontal movement. "This enhances line density within the tunnels, facilitating maximum production and efficiency."

Maximum aeration and oxygenation
Particular attention is paid to good aeration. "For any crop, it is essential to ensure optimal aeration, oxygenation and drainage capacity," he adds. To this end, all formats of this complete turnkey solution include Hydroponic Systems' Spacers.

Other crops to which the system can be adapted include tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and blueberries. "Overall, it makes higher yields possible, in different budget ranges. It has been proven many times, but our metal gutter generates 5% more than similar competitive ones," Antonio recalls.

Integral solution
The integral solution's gothic tunnels feature a design inspired by the architectural principles of greenhouses. "But these tunnels are stronger and more resistant than traditional tunnels: they can withstand even very strong winds without flinching."

The structure can be covered with a plastic canopy, protecting the crops from unpredictable and adverse weather conditions. If the customer wishes, the roof can also be covered only with mesh to prevent hail. The dimensions of the installation can also be adapted to the specific requirements of each grower.

"The inclusion of open or screened fronts and sides improves ventilation, fostering an environment conducive to optimal plant growth," adds Antonio. "In terms of condensation management, the system, unlike conventional tunnels, avoids condensation buildup on the ceiling, cleverly directing it to the sides for efficient removal. We want to offer growers a solution that not only prioritizes durability, but also solves other common problems."

A final important component of the system is the integrated irrigation system, which ensures efficient water distribution. "In this way we address the intricate water needs of various crops. The irrigation system works cohesively with the overall design, providing a streamlined and uncomplicated approach to water distribution. This, added to the collection of drainage by the gutters, can result in irrigation savings of around 80%," Antonio concludes.
