Inmates will work in the greenhouse in Amasya prison, Turkey

A new project to train prisoners in Amasya, Turkey, about greenhouse production was implemented with the support of the Eastern Black Sea Project Regional Development Administration (DOKAP).

A part of the open prison in the Gumushacikoy district of Amasya was plowed like a field and turned into a greenhouse. The greenhouses created for convicts to receive greenhouse cultivation training and grow vegetables were opened.

Amasya Governor Yilmaz Doruk and the city's prominent figures attended the opening within the framework of "Providing Training to Individuals in the Disadvantaged Group in the Field of Greenhouse, Ensuring Their Participation in Employment and Acquiring a New Profession Project".

Governor Doruk stated that important work has been carried out to help convicts acquire a profession and adapt to social life, and conveyed their goals with the following words:

"With this project, we aim to enable our convict citizens in Gumushacikoy Open Penal Institution to receive greenhouse cultivation training and to contribute to the economy and employment by establishing greenhouses in their own or rented areas after the execution of their sentences."
