The port of Cartagena is struggling to recover fruit and vegetable exports to the United Kingdom and France; lines that were suppressed after the pandemic. Almost all regional fruits and vegetables are exported abroad by road. The vice-president of the port, Pedro Pablo Hernández, opts for the maritime lines that once sailed to British ports or the trucks that embarked for Marseille.
Tasting of Murcian products for cruise passengers in Cartagena
An association from the Campoder area carried out a tasting of Murcian products to the passengers of the largest cruise ship docked in the port of Cartagena to date, with 6,600 people on board. On Monday, a group of stewardesses at the gates of the Juan Sebastián Elcano Cruise Terminal handed out grape and tangerine boats and gave a melon tasting to the passengers that disembarked from the AidaCosma ship on their first visit to Cartagena.
This is the last action of the "Flavors of Stone Fruit of the Campoder area" campaign, an association that brings together business associations, cooperatives, associations of different types, entities, entrepreneurs, and the municipalities of Águilas, Lorca, Mazarrón, Cartagena, Murcia, Totana, Fuente Álamo, Puerto Lumbreras, and Cieza to improve the region's development and living conditions.
This action serves to encourage and promote stone fruit, grapes, and melons grown in the rural territory of the Campoder area in the most important tourist sites. "The Port of Cartagena is a benchmark for tourism in the Region and key to enhancing the value of the region's agricultural production among foreign tourists. This action places the port as the main infrastructure for the export of the Region's agri-food products, a port that is open to all initiatives that contribute to the competitiveness and internalization of the regional economy," stated the vice president of the Port Authority, Pedro Pablo Hernandez.
