In the Kaliningrad Oblast, a new greenhouse dedicated to seedling cultivation has been completed. The head of "Orbita-Agro," Shaig Mamedov, shared this information. Currently, the enterprise's specialists are in the process of commissioning the equipment.
The new greenhouse complex spans approximately one hectare, providing space for up to 250 thousand plants. Mamedov emphasized that the seedling section has ample room for the simultaneous cultivation of cucumbers and tomatoes.
The company's plans to establish a modern complex for 250 thousand plants were announced in the summer, with "Orbita-Agro" receiving a subsidy from the Kaliningrad Oblast government to support the project.
The initial sowing of seedlings is scheduled for November 18-20. Mamedov outlined the process, explaining that after vaccinations, the plants will be grown until they have four leaves, after which they will be transplanted into the greenhouse.
From January to March, "Orbita-Agro" will temporarily suspend tomato cultivation but continue cucumber production on a 1.2-hectare area and lettuce on approximately 0.4 hectares.
"Orbita-Agro" stands as the largest greenhouse complex in the region, cultivating various vegetables such as cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, and other crops. The total greenhouse area exceeds ten hectares.
