Denmark: New top lighting LED launched for greenhouses

LED iBond has developed a new top lighting lamp (marketed as Hortisabertm) with a design targeted at the established market for top lighting lamps used in modern greenhouse facilities around the world.

Martin Løbel, CEO of LED iBond International comments: “We enter a large market with a competitive solution right when the greenhouse industry plans to upgrade its old top lighting lamps to LED technology for energy savings and increased yield. The initial feedback from our potential customers indicates that our solution is interesting and attractive. Just in Denmark, the investment in new LED toplighting lamps is expected to be several hundred million kroner in the shorter term, and internationally the potential for our product is large. We expect that it will be a significant revenue driver moving forward.”

The lamp is specifically designed for the indoor farming industry producing both crops and various types of plants, and has a power of 1000W, a length of 6 meters. According to the developers, it has a very competitive performance, especially in terms of energy efficiency, light homogeneity, spectral compositions, and thermal properties, as well as low installation cost due to smart mounting design.

A patent application has been filed to protect the intellectual properties of the design of the lamp. The first test installation of the new lamp has recently been completed at one of Denmark’s largest greenhouses and according to the Led Ibond team, the initial results are promising.
