HAWE celebrates its 65th anniversary

HAWE is proud to celebrate its 65th anniversary as a mobile cultivation system pioneer. Since 1958, HAWE has dedicated itself to transforming internal greenhouse logistics and has continuously innovated and challenged the sector.

It all started in 1958 with the first steps to improve internal greenhouse logistics. The concept was simple yet revolutionary: the work should come to the people and not the other way around. This quickly led to the introduction of the very first container tables for greenhouses.

One of the great aspects of the HAWE story is its close cooperation with growers. Growers challenged the company to develop innovative solutions by continuously asking questions and suggesting ideas. The cooperation led to fantastic and innovative sector solutions.

HAWE made the leap to the international stage in the early 1970s with the export of the very first electric trolley, with Germany as the pioneer market. This opened doors to new markets and opportunities, which resulted in HAWE increasing its influence beyond its national borders. In 1975, HAWE realized its first major, large-scale project, which demonstrated that HAWE was ready to handle complex logistics challenges and enabled it to strengthen its reputation as a reliable sector partner.

Various technological innovations were introduced in the 1980s. HAWE became a pioneer in developing integrated mobile logistics systems by replacing traditional relay systems with PLCs, creating more efficient and flexible systems to meet customers’ changing needs. In 1985, HAWE took another major step forward by using their own vacuum-forming machine to produce plastic grow tray bases, resulting in the introduction of what are today known as ebb and flow systems. In addition to these two developments, multi-layer cultivation systems (MLS) were also introduced. Such systems make the most efficient use of light, water, energy, and space.

Pioneering bulb-growing innovations using mobile applications were introduced in 1994, improving growers’ cultivation method flexibility while increasing productivity. HAWE took another major step forward in 2004 by using gutter systems to make cut flower cultivation mobile, which also enabled flower growers to optimize their production processes.

HAWE
HAWE has since developed to become an architect of smart cultivation systems, with a strong focus on mobile gutter systems and mobile container systems. Both systems are versatile and suitable for various crop types in both agriculture and floriculture.

HAWE is dedicated to helping growers address challenges relating to climate control, water scarcity, labor costs, energy costs, and sales. The HAWE systems also ensure optimum plant density, efficient use of space, stronger crops, and precision control of climatic conditions. Our systems are modular and can be expanded and adapted to match the growth of any project. This concept, known as ‘Moving Growth,’ symbolizes the fact that the systems can continue to grow with the organization, both now and in the future.

KUBO Group
In 2022, HAWE became part of the KUBO Group, a company with almost 80 years’ of horticulture experience. Earlier in 2022, KUBO acquired Peter Dekker Installaties and later also acquired SDF Horti Software.
