Source.ag invited more than 75 tomato, pepper, and cucumber growers from the Netherlands and Belgium to the first Source Growers Event on 27 September. The event, organized by the AI company, offered growers the opportunity to discuss the latest developments in the sector, exchange ideas, and network.
Pilot presentation
One of the highlights of the event was the unveiling of the results of the Source Control pilot, presented by Lotte Adema, Product Manager at Source.ag, which was conducted in collaboration with Rainbow Growers Middenmeer.
Source Control enriches growers' cultivation strategy by autonomously creating and executing an irrigation strategy. By combining artificial intelligence and weather forecasts with actual planting data, the ideal dry-down and EC management is implemented. Growers' preferences for a particular cultivation method are taken into account by flexible implementation of the underlying models.
During the past six months, autonomous tests focused on dry-down strategy were carried out in the greenhouses of Rainbow Growers Middenmeer. Dry-down strategy was performed without grower intervention and realized with higher than average accuracy. In the last two weeks of September, Source.ag extended autonomous watering to achieve key cultivation KPIs without grower intervention.
Rien Kamman of Source.ag addresses the audience
The event also provided a platform for external speakers, including Maurits van de Ven, founder of Plantible Foods, and Evert Jaap Lugt, director at YES!Delft.
In addition to the informative sessions, workshops were held, where growers came together to share their experiences and jointly discuss future developments of Source.
