Saving irrigation water in horticulture is one of the measures that can help combat drought and climate change, problems that plague many countries. One of them is Spain, whose capital, Madrid, is hosting Fruit Attraction 2023, one of the most important meetings of the agricultural sector in Europe, this October. Another place where climate change has a big impact is Canada, and part of the Hydroponic Systems team will also be traveling to the Greenhouse Conference.
Antonio GarcĂa, Export Manager of Hydroponic Systems
During both fairs, Hydroponic Systems will be exhibiting its protected cultivation systems, various units for fruit and vegetables capable of collecting the drainage from the substrate bags after irrigation so that they can be reused in subsequent cycles, saving around 80% in water and fertilizers. "This has a direct impact on farmers' pockets, but also on the environment, as it reduces the pressure on our planet's water reserves," the team says.
In this respect, Hydroponic Systems will also be showing visitors its latest innovation. "This is an innovative system that reduces the use of plastic in semi-hydroponic strawberry crops by one and a half tonnes. In this way, this system makes it possible to use the substrate in bulk, or the formula desired by the grower, without the need to use the traditional sacks or growbags."
Hydroponic Systems will be exhibiting:
Fruit Attraction: Hall 7, stand 7D20
Canadian Greenhouse Conference: stand 610
