UK: Berry grower signed agreement to deploy farm robots

The Summer Berry Company (TSBC) signed an agreement with Tortuga AgTech for the deployment of farm robots to harvest strawberries, provide forecasting on yields and plant health, and provide support to agronomists in fighting pests via UV light application.

The partnership between the two companies dates to 2018, but a new extended agreement has now been signed. With this new deal, at least 52 Tortuga robots are expected at TSBC farms in the UK in 2023, but the number could reach 500 over the next years.

David Sanclement, CEO of The Summer Berry Company: “We are looking forward to working more closely with Tortuga to increasingly incorporate automated solutions into our operations in the UK. Cibus has been immensely supportive of our efforts to future-proof our farms while protecting our workers and the environment.”

Eric Adamson, Co-founder and CEO of Tortuga: “The Summer Berry Company has been our partner and first customer since 2019. We believe their operations are some of the very best in the world, and we are proud to be their partner in innovation. Cibus has been a fantastic and visionary supporter of TSBC’s efforts to lead the world in technological solutions, and we are grateful for their support.”
