Thwan van Gennip is celebrating its 60th anniversary. On Saturday, September 9, they will therefore open their doors between 10:00 and 16:00. In Lierop, the company can be visited on a guided tour, and snacks and drinks will be available.
Over 60 years ago, Simon van Gennip laid the foundations for the Van Gennip company. His son, Thwan, embraced his passion for horticulture as a young boy. In 1999, Thwan took over the business and changed the name to Thwan van Gennip.
What started with growing various crops such as carrots, beans, strawberries, pickles, and leeks eventually evolved into a focus on soft fruit production: strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries, and growing asparagus, strawberry, raspberry, and blackberry plants.

Strawberry and asparagus plants had been the focus for some time, but after adding raspberry and blackberry propagation, Thwan van Gennip also started focusing more on growing strawberry tray plants. Because their raised plants are also partly used for their own production, Thwan van Gennip can ensure the quality of the plants even better and provide national and international customers with the right growing advice. They do all this at Thwan Van Gennip from multiple locations in North Brabant.
Entrepreneurship has changed a lot over the years. Where the focus used to be mainly on working by hand in the soil, now, in addition to cultivation, sustainability, water management, and green energy are central. A challenge they are facing with determination with the entire team in Lierop.
The Open Day on September 9 will be held at the main location in Lierop, Eindje 6.
