US: Vernon farm's greenhouse destroyed in storm just as planting was to begin

A Saturday thunderstorm dealt a blow to a Vernon-area farm, destroying Silverstar Veggies greenhouse just as it was preparing to plant for the season.

Silverstar Veggies is a small vegetable farm on the edge of Verno. On one acre, the company grows vegetables, herbs, and some fruit on Silverstar Road, at the bottom of the Foothills community.

"An absurdly strong wind from the East blew across our farm on Saturday, May 20. It completely destroyed our main greenhouse, along with some other damage to our shed and crops", the growers share. "This is a huge hit for us. We were supposed to plant it Monday the 22nd with some of our most wanted and valuable crops. We have thousands of plants that are ready to be put in the ground, but they need to be in a Greenhouse. We want to rebuild it as soon as possible to help keep our small family business going."

With a gofundme fundraiser, they now hope to rebuild their farm. "Any funds donated will be used directly to purchase the materials to construct another Greenhouse."
